These are original prints using the Japanese fish printing technique Gyotaku. The process involves using the actual fish or creature to create the print. The fish is dried out, arranged, and painted. Then, a paper or fabric is laid on top of the fish and carefully lifted up off of it, leaving an imprint or image of the fish.
The creatures that I use for fish prints are ones that come up already dead while commercial fishing. I enjoy the process of giving them another life!
